On the occasion of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha, the helpless and distressed people of the area have been gathering since morning to collect VGF (Vulnerable Group Feeding) cards at the Hosseinpur Upazila premises in Kishoreganj. The expectation was to share some of the government assistance. Many were afraid that if they did not get the cards, they might have to return empty-handed. But Hosseinpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kazi Nahid Eva did not disappoint.
On Monday (June 2), he personally handed over the cards to the helpless people in the Upazila Parishad hall. This brought smiles to the faces of these helpless people who had been gathering since morning.
An old woman named Rahima Khatun said, ‘I thought I would not get anything. But UNO sir himself stood up and gave us rice cards. It feels peaceful.’
UNO Kazi Nahid Eva said, ‘People have been crowding the office since morning. We have tried to ensure that no one returns empty-handed.’
It is worth noting that every Eid, the government distributes rice to the needy under the VGF program. However, this time, this humanitarian and sensitive initiative of the UNO has brought relief to the helpless people.
