Ershad Uddin expects to sell sacrificial cows worth Tk 3 crore from JC Agro Farm again

Kishoreganj Correspondent:

Farmers in Kishoreganj are busy fattening their cows ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Adha. They hope to make a profit if Indian cows are not imported. This time, about 2 lakh 13 thousand cattle have been prepared for sacrifice in the district, which is twice as much as last year. Meanwhile, farmers have said that the price of cattle will also be higher this time due to the high price of cow feed.

According to the District Livestock Department, last year the number of sacrificial animals in Kishoreganj was 1 lakh 6 thousand. This time, the number of animals has increased to 2 lakh 13 thousand. After meeting the local demand, these animals will be sold in different districts of the country, which will boost the rural economy here. Due to the natural fattening of animals by feeding them raw grass, vine leaves, chaff and husk, there is a high demand for these animals across the country. People are already flocking to various farms in the district from far and wide to buy cows.
Meanwhile, businessman Md. Ershad Uddin has built the largest cattle farm in Karimganj district. Businessman Ershad Uddin is expecting to sell cows worth Tk 3 crore from the J.C. Agro Farm, the largest in the district.
This J.C. Agro Farm has been built in Rouha village of Karimganj upazila of the district. Ershad Uddin, the owner and businessman of J.C. Agro Farm, started the farm with just 10 cows in 2019. In a span of 5 years, his farm now has more than 300 cows. 30 employees work on the farm. Cows are being fattened using local food in this largest farm in the district.
It is known that the farm has more than 300 cows of different sizes and a few buffaloes. However, this time the number of large bulls suitable for sacrifice is over a hundred. Small, large and medium-sized bulls are being made suitable for sacrifice with natural food including fresh grass, rice husks and paddy straw. All the cows are being sold from the farm. They are being sold by weight for 400 to 500 taka per kg. 90 percent of the farm’s sacrificial animals have already been sold.
‎ J.C Agro Farm owner Md. Ershad Uddin said, “I do business in Dhaka. When the Corona pandemic broke out in the country in 2019, I moved to my village home with my family. I started running a small farm with 10 cows. The farm is expanding day by day.” He also said, “In addition to making a profit myself, I plan to provide farms in the villages to motivate the educated youth of the village to solve the unemployment problem.”
‎ According to the District Livestock Office, 40 medical teams have already worked to control the quality of sacrificial animals and prevent the use of harmful drugs.
District Livestock Officer Dr. Subhash Chandra Pandit said, this time against the demand of 1,80,911 sacrificial animals in the district, 2,13,379 sacrificial animals are ready in the farms. Which is much more than the demand. We will meet the demand of our own district and export the said animals to other districts. If the market is good this year, there is a possibility of selling animals worth about 1,000 crore taka. Since the animals here are fattened naturally, there is a huge demand for them across the country. We are providing all kinds of advice and support to the farmers.
