A disabled madrasa student was raped by a local mosque muezzin in Hossainpur, Kishoreganj. The unfortunate disabled madrasa student was raped while trying to get sugar from a grocery store.
Police and other sources said that on Wednesday morning, the girl’s mother sent the teenage girl to the grocery store of Mujibur Rahman Firoz (60), the muezzin of the local mosque, to get sugar. Since there were no people around at that time, the shopkeeper muezzin Firoz seized the opportunity and forcibly raped the teenage girl by blocking the door of the store. Later, when the girl’s screams prompted the people around her to come forward, the rapist fled. The rapist is the son of the deceased Abdul Motalib of Uttar Pumdi village in Pumdi union of Mojibur upazila and the muezzin of Pumdi union parishad Jame mosque.
In this incident, the mother of the student has filed a case with Hossainpur police station on the charge of raping her daughter and demanded urgent redress.
In this regard, Hossainpur police station officer-in-charge (OC) Maruf Hossain said that a case has been filed with Hossainpur police station under the Women and Children Repression Act in the rape incident. In continuation of this, the girl’s medical examination has been completed in police custody. In addition, the police are continuing their campaign to arrest the accused.
