Kishoreganj Correspondent:
A protest march and rally were held in Kishoreganj to protest BNP leader Fazlur Rahman’s ugly statements about Islam and scholars and his insults against the founder of the historic Shaheed Mosque and Aljamiatul Imdadia Madrasa, Allama Athar Ali (RA).
On Friday, after Juma, the protest march, initiated by Aljamiatul Imdadia’s former students and Towhidi people from all walks of life, started in front of the historic Shaheed Mosque, circled the main roads of the city, and then went back to the Shaheed Mosque premises to meet for a rally. The speakers at the rally were Hakeemul Ummat Allama Ashraf Ali Thanvi (RA). BNP leader Fazlur Rahman was publicly called upon to apologize to the countrymen for his derogatory remarks about its prominent caliph, Shaykhul Islam, Allama Athar Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). Otherwise, a large movement was warned. At that time, several thousand religious Towhidi people, including Mao. Anjar Shah Tanim, Mao. Mazhar Shah, Ashiq Ashraf, Mao. K. M. Nazimuddin, participated in the protest procession and rally. It is worth noting that recently, in a talk show, BNP Chairperson’s advisor Fazlur Rahman called Maulana Athar Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) a Razakar. This angered scholars, ulamas and Towhidi people from all over the country, including Kishoreganj. In view of this, Towhidi people from all walks of life in Kishoreganj held protest processions and rallies.
