Jamaat’s protest march in Kishoreganj demanding the release of ATM Azhar

A protest march and rally have been held in Kishoreganj demanding the immediate release of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General ATM Azharul Islam.

The protest march, initiated by the district Jamaat, started in front of the Shahidi Mosque in the city on Tuesday (February 18) afternoon and ended at the Boro Bazar intersection after circling important roads.

The protest march was led by Kishoreganj District Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Professor Md. Ramzan Ali, Nayeb-e-Ameer Principal Maulana Azizul Haque,
District Secretary Maulana Nazmul Islam, former Ameer Principal of District Jamaat-e-Islami Taiboozzaman, Assistant Secretary Shamsul Alam Selim, Dhaka Metropolitan North Jamaat Majlish-e-Shura member, District Jamaat-e-Islami Working Committee member Professor Azulul Haque, City Jamaat Ameer Maulana A.M.M. Abdul Haque, Sadar Upazila Jamaat Ameer Qari Nazrul Islam, District Workers Welfare Federation President Khaled Hasan Jumman, Islami Chhatra Shibir Kishoreganj District Branch President Hasan Al Mamun and more than a thousand leaders and activists were present.

In a brief rally before the protest procession, District Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Professor Md. Ramzan Ali said, our Central Assistant Secretary General ATM Azharul Islam has been detained in prison for more than 13 years. He has been repeatedly remanded and subjected to physical and mental torture. He fell seriously ill several times. He was not given even the minimum medical care. After August 5, many cases have been released from jail. But why has ATM Azharul Islam not been released yet? He must be released immediately.
